For companies already operating within a Foreign Trade Zone, goods can be transferred
to ASW Global duty free resulting in faster access to customers in Akron,
Cleveland, northeast Ohio, the U.S. and Canada.
Some key benefits of operating within the ASW Global
Foreign Trade Zone include:
· Duty Deferral
and/or Elimination: Imported goods are not subject to duty while
stored within a Foreign Trade Zone facility. Duty is only applied once the goods enter
the U.S. market. Merchandise can be transported between Foreign Trade Zone's or exported
from the U.S. duty free. In addition, damaged products or scrap
materials may be returned or eliminated without duty penalty.
· Duty Reduction (Inverted Tariff Relief): In some instances,
tariffs are higher on parts than finished goods. Foreign Trade Zone's allow companies to
bring in components under lower tariffs for assembly within the
facility.
· Lower Taxes: Goods stored within Foreign Trade Zone #181 normally avoid
federal excise taxes and state inventory taxes.
· Weekly Entry: Foreign Trade Zone weekly users can combine
entries into one merchandise processing fee for containers moving
through the zone. This opportunity is completely unique to Foreign Trade Zone's.
· Quota Exemption: Items subject to quota limitations may be held
within a Foreign Trade Zone facility until the quota restriction is met.
